WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE

When considering artists whose work fits the concept of worlds colliding and interacting, I thought of Illustrator Polly Nor, especially her most recent work.

Polly Nor is a freelance Illustrator based in North West London.
Since graduating in 2011 she has been commissioned by a variety of clients including Bloomsbury Publishing, Dazed Digital, Hunger TV, Doc Martens and Complex Magazine. She has also been a guest speaker on the digital arts for the Apple Store and has worked as Design Assistant on ‘The Armchair Parade’ at Bric Gallery, NY and Salzburg Festival’s Jedermann.

I massively appreciate her aesthetic and mystical universe of the devil acting as a functional member of society, even being inside of us, posing as us. She has humorously and skilfully manifested two ‘worlds’ together of reality and the devil/evil. Her almost everyday and casual scenes make her work weirdly relatable whilst being entirely absurd, a powerful mix. Her compositions create snapshots/windows into this fictional reality, showing us what it’d be like.
